Gun Shop Guide for I Wanna Test The Game

This page is the practical shopping list for the gun inside I Wanna Test The Game. Pair it with the narrative Gun upgrades guide and the route timing in the Full Walkthrough.

Purchase flow

  1. Enter the shop room between stages.
  2. Spend available XP on the next gun level.
  3. Leave, then save at the next station (How to Save).
  4. Equip with Q/E on PC before fights (PC controls).
  5. Shoot with left click; on console use the shoot face button (Console controls).

Persistence rules

Gun level saves with your profile progress in the beta and cannot be reset. Retry does not refund or wipe levels. That makes every purchase a permanent account of your effort—even when traps from All Traps delete a movement run.

How much is enough?

Community tutorials highlight mid gun levels (around level 2–3) as noticeable breakpoints before Sagat. If the boss HP bar barely moves, you are under-invested—return to farming stages rather than only studying How to Beat Sagat. If you already deal solid damage, invest leftover XP anyway; there is no reason to hoard.

Combat hygiene

  • Equip before the telegraphed projectile, not during it
  • Parry first (How to Parry), shoot after—the gun will not fire during parry animations after patches
  • Do not expect the gun to clear lava checkers for you (Stages 1–3)

Shop rooms and tilt

Players skip shops while angry. Force a rule: no Stage 4 entry without Shop 1 spent; no Sagat entry without Shop 2 considered. Mark both in the stage checklist.

Optional Robux support is covered under Game Passes. Free code myths are covered under Codes. Scripted auto-win tools are under Scripts with warnings.

Shop Hub · Stages 4–5 · Updates · Review

Buy damage early. Your future self fighting Sagat will thank you.

Purchase philosophy

Buy early, buy often enough to keep Sagat under a minute of exposed mistakes. The gun is not a replacement for movement—Stages 1–5 still kill unupgraded heroes the same way—but Stage 6 respects DPS.

After purchase

Equip, shoot a wall once to confirm mode, then save. If you context-switch to mobile mid-campaign, gun levels should remain on the account—verify before a boss evening.

UI flow summary

Enter shop space → review affordable gun levels → purchase → exit → equip Q/E → test fire → crouch-save. If the beta UI labels differ slightly, follow on-screen text. The invariants are persistence and boss relevance.

Myths

  • “Gun resets on death” — false; levels persist
  • “Gun replaces parries” — false; you still time crouches
  • “Codes refill XP” — see Codes for the honest no
  • “Donation pass maxes gun” — see Game Passes

Damage fantasy versus platform reality

The gun makes Stage 6 kinder; it does not delete Stage 2 checkers. Keep practicing movement pages under Controls even after you feel “geared.” Players who over-index on DPS and under-index on saves still lose to disappearing stairs. Schedule a mixed session: ten minutes of platform drills, then a shop purchase, then a boss attempt.

Patch footnotes to remember

Community update notes mentioned gun levels staying saved and firing being blocked during parry animations. Build muscle memory around those constraints so you do not empty a magazine into a crouch window. When something feels wrong after a patch, compare with Updates before assuming your purchase vanished.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Which keys equip the gun?

On PC, Q and E. Mobile and console use their item/gun toggles.

Can Retry remove gun levels?

No. Gun level persists and cannot be reset.

Should I save after shopping?

Yes. Save at the next station so movement deaths do not stress you.

Does a higher gun skip traps?

No. Traps still kill on contact; gun helps combat and Sagat.
